As someone who got very bored of waiting for 5000/3000 series laptops to actually become available, i'm glad to see the 2080 Super is more than able to mix it with the 3070 and lower power 3080's. I suspect driver optimizations will let Ampere stretch it's legs more as time goes on, but performance and availability of Turin-based machines (which have some PHENOMENAL discounts going on) is the real kicker right here, right now.

i too am going for college, but i don’t need too much performance and as long as it can run games well it’s sufficient. add that with the slim form factor and battery life, the zephyrus sounds more appealing to me. but it depends on your budget too

I am confused now since last 8 months now between Omen 15, legion 5 and Rog G14...G14 being most expensive of all but most appealing of them also 😁. Legion runs cool but it's bulky and heavy. Given I need to use the same laptop for most of my official work and occasional gaming. I am not sure what to do... Now laptops with rtx 3000 are launching not sure if 1660ti would be able to keep up for long 🙄.. Guide me fellow viewers with ur wisdom 😁 I do like new G15 as well...but not sure how costly it would be in india

I have the Best Buy version (3070 with 16gb ram) and my top right speaker has no sound coming out of it. I thought my right ear was actually plugged for a while, lol. Do you know if there are any software issues that could be causing this? I really don't want to have to return this thing... The other three speakers work and sound just fine, but the top right one is completely dead.

I was really hoping someone could help me out with this. I’m thinking of buying either the Lenovo legion 7 with 16g ram, the asus zephyrus g15 with 16g ram or g14 with 32g ram. I will be using it to game on, record, edit videos, for school, programming and possibly graphic design. I’m grateful for any help

I got this machine and I love almost everything about it. The killer thing for me is that the keyboard is too hot, its just uncomfortable for someone that wants to game with but also use for work for long periods of time. I will unfortunately have to return it which is such a disappointment because I love everything else about it. Ill have to find a laptop that doesn't exhaust heat through the keyboard. Thank you for the review though!

anyone care to tell me whether this laptop has issues that i have with my dell xps 15 7590 ie: screen flickering wakes from sleep overheats during sleep fans turn on during sleep discharges 10% an hour during sleep random cpu spikes touchpad rattle coil whine ive tried all the solutions suggested by multiple reddit threads but no luck. theyre issues since 2016 that dell has failed to solve. its these little things that tech reviewers fail to mention that really gets to me. so im really weary of buying new laptops now, especially windows laptops

@Jarrod'sTech qq, my only hesitation is driving 1440p and that wasted framerate when 1080p would do fine for this size; can I ask if 1080p looked blurry for you when game testing on this unit? If one has to run native 1440p for clear visuals then it's a turn-off for me. Thanks!

Undervolt the cpu and gpu to run games at 100 fps limit and it will last for a very long time.

Does internal graphics reserve any ram? I have r5 3500u and 2.1gb is reserved as video memory (there's no dedicated gpu), so the actual ram I have available is 13.9gb

An ASUS Zephyrus G15 with a ryzen 4800HS (supposedly with 8 cores and 16 threads) from last year, changes it's mind frequently about how many cores and threads it has. A client of mine has that problem and can't use software with licenses dependent on hardware signature. He also has experienced the nice Asus support, they made literally no good to solve the problem.

Def gunna swap my 2020 g14 out for one of these. Super impressed that asus used a higher end panel then the one on the older g14. Response time is absolute garbage on it but the new g15 was leagues ahead of it so thats awesome

Why do people buy laptops with very high-end cards like 3070s and 3080s? That just results in more heat and abysmal battery life. Doesn't it make sense to get a laptop with something like a 3060?

Nice one with the Linux test. Good to see my XMG NEO 2020 smokes it.... ;) I think "smokes" is what the kids say these days,. BTW I'm using Debian 11 for gaming and everything I tried (currently AC Origins) runs great on Linux thanks to Proton.

Thank you for adding a segment, however small, on Linux for this laptop. God know I have scoured the internet for that info. Maybe in future do a slightly more in-depth Linux review perhaps with Pop-os. Again thanks, I think I’m gonna get this or the new legion line when it drops this month

PLEASE do your research before buying this laptop. The lack of hardware mux and the speaker popping issues make it a very bad buy in general. In some cases FPS are considerably lower than previous gen due to the lack of hardware mux. Check out posts on NoteBookReview about it. I have two of these that I am returning. It's just not worth it.

@Leon Florence At this time if you are looking at best bang for your buck it's my opinion that the current Eluktronics 15" and 17" models are the go to. In addition, the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro which should be releasing this month in the US (hopefully) will have a lot of very cool features, HDR400, 165hz w/ G-Sync, pretty much everything I wanted.

Something worrying I see is that the 115W RTX 2070 in the Mech 15 is barely behind this one. Makes me concerned that last year's S15 could outperform this machine, especially when comparing RTX 2070 to RTX 3070. Frankly I've always been a bit disappointed in this years Zephyrus designs, I really wanted Asus to push GPU power to the limits again, but they moved away from the S15 design to something akin to the G14.
